This trail follows the North Fork Kaweah River through chaparral and oak woodland for approximately six and a half miles. It then turns away from the river and climbs another 2,400 feet through oak grassland and mixed conifer forest to Hidden Springs. Hikers should beware of ticks and rattlesnakes on this foothills route.

The North Fork Trail begins at the end of North Fork Road that begins in Three Rivers. The trail stems from the confluence of Yucca Creek and North Fork Kaweah River at an elevation of 1,800 feet. The trail follows Yucca Creek for a short distance eastward then turns sharply northward.

The trail climbs slowly as it parallels the North Fork Kaweah River. In approximately three miles the trail gains four hundred feet and begins to descend toward the river. Approximately six and a half miles from the trail head North Fork Trail approaches Burnt Point Creek. The trail turns eastward following the creek five miles to Hidden Spring.
