Byrds Nest 4 Loop Trail

Byrds Nest Loop is a pleasant 2.4-mile loop trail that travels a ridge on Neighbor Mountain and takes the visitor to a small day-use shelter called Byrd Nest 4. The shelter was built in 1965 along with three other shelters. The name comes from former Senator Harry E. Byrd, Sr. who donated the money for the four shelters. There are no panoramic views from this shelter, however, the path offers views beyond Pass Mountain which is east of the trail.
