Hawksbill Mountain Trail is a 2.1-mile round-trip hike offering spectacular 360 degree views. Found along the path is a shelter named Byrds Nest 2. This is one of four shelters named after former Senator Harry E. Byrd, Sr. who donated the money for the four shelters. The trail leads to the park's highest elevation of 4,051 feet. At one point, the terrain plummets 2,500 feet making this a wonderful adventure.
