Rocky Mount Summit Trail

Some rangers have referred to this trail as "wild and rugged." It travels over rough rocky trails, along ridges, then plummets 450 feet. It is quite an adventure that offers some spectacular views, particularly on clear days.

Directions

Directions from Front Royal, VA: Skyline Drive travels the entire length of Shenandoah National Park. Mile markers are placed along the right-hand side of the road heading south. They are numbered from north to south beginning at the northern terminus in Front Royal, Virginia. Facilities, trails and park features use the mile markers as points of reference. After making the sharp curve at milepost 76, park in the Two mile Run Overlook parking area. The trailhead is located just north of this lot.
