Stony Man Nature Trail
Stony Man Nature Trail is 1.6 miles in length and considered easy. It is an interpretive trail that points out the northern red oak, the yellow birch, mountain ash and balsam fir. It takes the visitors to the park's second highest peak with Hawk's Mountain being the highest peak. From the peak and trail, Page Valley and Old Rag can be spotted on a clear day.
Directions from Front Royal, VA: Skyline Drive travels the entire length of Shenandoah National Park. Mile markers are placed along the right-hand side of the road heading south. They are numbered from north to south beginning at the northern terminus in Front Royal, Virginia. Facilities, trails and park features use the mile markers as points of reference. Park in the Stony Man parking area located at mile 41.7. Trailhead is just inside the lot
