The Balsam Campground is located just north of the Blue Ridge Parkway at Milepost 458. The campground is rather small and off the beaten path offering some of the parks highest elevations, 5,400 feet. The higher elevation is a relief from the summer valley temperatures.

Directions from Blue Ridge Parkway, NC: 10 miles north of Soco Gap on Balsam Mountain Road (closed in winter), off the Blue Ridge Parkway around Milepost 458.
