This area is not as heavily used as other areas of the park, yet it remains a favorite for many people. The campground is located west of I-40 near the Cataloochee Ranger Station. The area is preserved with a virgin forest, beautiful trout streams, historical buildings and a large network of trails. The campground offers 26 primitive sites at about 2,600 feet elevation.

Directions from Waterville, NC: Take the twisty SR 32 south for about 12 miles to the campground. It is located west of I-40 near the Cataloochee Ranger Station.
