Jenkins Ridge Trail rises approximately 2,000 feet within a 6 mile distance. The beginning of the trail is extremely steep and known as one of the steepest trails in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. As the trail gradually levels off, it reaches the Appalachian Trail. The trail crosses several streams including the beautiful Gunna Creek and Haw Gap Branch. At the upper edge of the trail, by traveling the Appalachian Trail a short distance west, you may pick up Eagle Creek Trail down to Pinnacle Trail to make a loop.
