The trail is part of a network of loop trails offering an opportunity to crisscross through the national park. It is a multi-use trail that travels between Long Bunk Trail and Mount Sterling Ridge Trail. If taken with Pretty Hollow Gap Trail and Little Cataloochee Trail, you have traveled a large loop. The trail is rugged as it passes through a hardwood forest of beech and poplar. Primitive campsites are available.
