The Statue of Liberty is located on Liberty Island in New York Harbor.

Entrance Fee
There is no admission fee to the Statue of Liberty. Dona-tions are gratefully accepted.
Hours
The Statue of Liberty National Monu-ment is open daily year-round from 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours during summer. It is closed December 25.
Medical
First aid is available in the administration building across from the gift shop and monument. Ask any park ranger to escort you there. Hospitals are located in New York and New Jersey.
Special Services -
Facilities, including elevators, rest-rooms and the main promenade level, are accessible to visitors with disabilities. All exhib-its are wheelchair- accessible. Tactile exhibits and audio tapes are available for visually-impaired visitors and the video exhibits have subtitles for hearing-impaired visitors. Contact a ranger for any assistance you might need. A limited number of wheelchairs are available on both Liberty & Ellis Islands.
Dining
Evelyn Hill, Inc., the concessioner on Liberty Island, serves a menu of tasty American food. It has indoor seating, plus an outdoor deck with seating that overlooks the Hudson River and lower Manhattan.
Gift Shop
Books about the Statue of Liberty and immigration are available at the gift shop. Other items such as T-shirts, mugs, key-chains, postcards and a wide variety of souvenirs can also be purchased. Gifts are also available at the museum shop.
Park Regulations
The following regulations are intended to enhance your enjoyment of the Statue of Liberty. These guidelines protect the monument and you, the visitor.
• No eating, drinking, smoking or chewing gum in the monument.
• Please pay particular -attention to orientation announcements.
• A permit must be obtained for commercial photography at the Statue of Liberty. Tripods are not allowed.
• There is no vehicle access to Liberty Island.
• Camping is not permitted on the island.
• Please do not deface, damage or remove any park features.
• No pets are allowed with the exception of service animals.
Visitor Facilities
Restrooms, public telephones and refreshments are available.

The Nisqually Road in Mount Rainier National Park will reopen today, a day earlier than expected. The road, and the park, have been closed since Nov. 12 when Kautz Creek jumped its banks and flooded the main road into the park.

Reporting from Glacier National Park -- No one knew what to expect on the trail to Grinnell Glacier one late summer morning, but a second bull moose less than an hour out was hardly a good sign. During September and October -- mating season -- it's always best to give the spindly-legged animals plenty of room.

An upcoming National Park Service (NPS) rule change could greatly benefit mountain bicycling by improving the administrative process for opening trails to bicycles. IMBA has been asking the agency to revise its policies since 1992, because the current "special regulations" process is needlessly cumbersome and treats bicycles like motorized vehicles.
