Yes, Bright Angel Bicycles at Grand Canyon village offers hourly and daily rentals ($10 an hour or $35 for the day) as well as bicycle tours led by their staff.

The site says they offer reservations for "large groups", but single rentals or small groups are first come, first served.

If you call, they should also be able to advise you on which trails are open to cyclists, and which are not (most are not, as I recall) so you can plan your outing.

If you only have one day, the best things to do are the valley tram tour in the morning, you will see more wildlife. Make sure you hike to lower Yosemite falls, and hit up the visitor center. The movie they offer is superb and for dinner go eat at the dining room at your hotel.

Less than 10 percent of all of Yosemite's yearly visitors come to the park in October, so there shouldn't be long wait times. More information about visiting the park in the fall is available here.

You can check the park's Current Conditions page before your trip for the most up-to-date information.

I am almost certain that Morgan Brake is a place name not derived from a person. Since their is also a Matthews Brake preserve nearby, I assume they are using an archaic definition of brake; a swamp or "place covered in brush".

After searching for a while, I can find no mention of who or what Morgan refers to, so I'd venture a guess that it isn't that significant.

The only people that we could find that do a single day rafting trip in the Grand Canyon departs from Peach Springs, Arizona, 3-4 hours from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, and about the same from Sedona.  Check out this link to Hualapai Tourism.  There you can find out all the details for your day trip.

Typically there are much longer trips through the Grand Canyon, lasting up to several weeks.  These usually require careful planning and advanced notice.  You are starting to enter into rafting country as you head North into Utah.  There you can find trips all over the state in durations ranging from day trips all the way through to lengthy adventures!

Several National Parks offer exceptional bird watching. This time of year, many of the parks in the southern part of the country offer some of the best birding because of the number of species that winter there. The Everglades, for example, is home to many rare species of bird including the great egret, the snowy egret and the roseate spoonbill, but this time of year many birds call it home. Rocky Mountain is also a great park for birding. Rocky Mountain is home to the rufous hummingbird, mountain bluebird, osprey and once nearly extinct peregrine falcon. If you are looking to find places to view bald eagles, several national parks offer you that opportunity. Glacier Bay National Park, AK; Kenai Fjords National Park, AK; Assateague Island National Seashore, MD; Yellowstone National Park, WY; Olympic National Park, WA; North Cascades National Park, WA; Glacier National Park, MT; Grand Teton National Park, WY; Acadia National Park, ME; and Voyageurs National Park, MN.

If you are looking for birding at a particular park, search for the park the ohranger site and select flora and fauna. You will find a list of many of the species of bird that call that park home.

YELLOWSTONE PARK without a doubt. Where else can you see so many different speices and where else can you see such magnificent eagles soaring so close to you.  The falcons and all the different birds seem to get along in the air and on the ground. Much smarter than people are these birds. Do not forget the beautiful swans that are so rare a sight. Always take a bird identifier book with you because just when you think you have seen them all, along will come a strange or rare one that you may not know.

There are several options to get around the park without a car. For a list of them, visit the NPS Glacier site here. Have fun!

It depends on the Amtrak stop you use and the things you want to do in the area. There is one stop in East Glacier, one in Essex, one in West Glacier and one in Whitefish. Of all of the stops, Whitefish is the best with the most ammenities and has a rental car location right in the Amtrak depot. Although, several rental companies will deliver to the depot from Whitefish or Kalispell. There are so many nice things to do and visit all around the park area so it would be ideal to have a rental car.
