Overview

City Hall Park has historically always served as a focal point for the downtown. According to the National Register of Historic Places, the Park area served as "an important crossroads which by the second quarter of the nineteenth century was a developing focus of community life for the various settlements in the Barre area. Today it is the showplace of the city: a very architecturally cohesive grouping of primarily nineteenth- and early twentieth-century buildings ..." The Park contains an historic gazebo, the granite Soldiers' and Sailors' memorial, and serves as home to the summertime concerts series and Barre Homecoming Days. The park is scheduled for a major renovation during the summer of 2007.
