W. Kerr Scott Reservoir is located in the heart of the beautiful Yadkin River Valley, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Moravian and Cascade Falls are in the immediate vicinity and the Blue Ridge Parkway is 28 mi away. It offers extensive opportunities for all outdoor recreational activities. This area has many historical and cultural attractions. The area was developed by settlers, including Daniel Boone, in the 1800s. Explore the area for evidence of their presence! Day-use facilities and modern campsites are available for public use. Explore the area by car on the scenic roadways. The area offers many hours of hiking and recreational mountain bike riding on the 30 plus miles of multi-use trails at Kerr Scott Reservoir. Numerous boat launch areas allow visitors to enjoy the lake in motorized or non-motorized boats. There are a number of swimming beaches around the lake for visitor use. There are a number of campsites in the area with both RV and tent sites. Fishing is permitted in the lake, and the area is open to hunters. Please obey all restrictions and posted signs.

A legal agreement allows Friends to work collaboratively with the Army Corps to preserve and enhance the W. Kerr Scott Lake and surrounding land and to create opportunities for the community and region to enjoy educational, theater, concerts, sporting and cultural events at the Lake.
