Whittier Narrows Dam
Whittier Narrows Dam is Los Angeles County's largest and most popular recreation areas. Located in the City of South El Monte features a variety of facilities and spreads over 1,492 acres.
The park features an archery range, BMX bicycle Moto-cross track, organized softball, baseball, soccer, small bore rifle range, tennis, tether cars, trap and skeet shooting. A community garden, cultural special events, an urban farm project, the American Military Museum, children's play areas, a dog sports field are sure to help anyone enjoy their experience. Also, equestrian trails, a fishing lake, an 18-hole disc golf course, pedal boats, picnicking, radio controlled boats, planes, an bike trails, and multiple-use trails are available. In addition there are a number of independently sponsored events at the park including Junta Hispana, Pegan Pride, Mexican Independence Day Festival and Fall Fair.
