Located along Route 52, near historic Bramwell in Mercer County, Pinnacle Rock State Park is one of the more interesting wayside parks operated by the West Virginia State Park system. Towering above the rugged mountains of southeastern West Virginia, Pinnacle Rock is an unusual sandstone formation reaching 3,100 feet above sea level. This park provides a relaxing picnic area in an unusual scenic setting. There are nearly 400 acres which include Jimmy Lewis Lake (seasonally stocked with trout) located nearby within the park boundary.

  • Fishing

    Fishing in Jimmy Lewis Lake is a family favorite. A fishing license is required.

  • Hiking

    Pinnacle Rock State Park is becoming a favorite area to hike and bike. There are several trails to choose from between Pinnacle Rock and Jimmy Lewis Lake. The park now has over seven miles of hiking and biking trails.

  • Picnicking

    Pinnacle Rock has a reservable picnic shelter with stone fireplace and it seats approximately 75 people. The stone picnic shelter is reservable and may be reserved up to one year to the month in advance. Picnic areas dot the park and include picnic tables with grills.



Pinnacle Rock State Park is located in southern West Virginia between Bluewell and Bramwell, WV.

From the north take I-77 exit 9 at Princeton, WV then US460 west, to WV104 west, to WV20 south to Bluewell, WV then WV 52 north.

From the south take I-77 exit 1 at Bluefield, WV then US460W/WV52 north, then WV52 north.

The park entrance is approximately 14 miles from Princeton, WV and 10 miles from Bluefield, WV.
