In addition to the fires burning in Southern California, a portion of Yosemite National Park is also ablaze.The Big Meadow fire started as a prescribed burn of 90 acres Wednesday by park fire crews and has grown to engulf 2,244 acres after the crew was unable to contain the blaze within the set boundaries.

Yosemite National Park - A series of rockslides in Yosemite National Park forces the evacuation of the historic Ahwahnee Hotel.The rockslides happened at the Royal Arches formation, in the north side of the park.Guests from the Ahwahnee Hotel made an unexpected move to Curry Village in Yosemite National Park.About 300 guests were evacuated at around noon Wednesday afternoon after three separate rockslides in the area.

Park rangers say the Ahwahnee could use everything from new carpets to a paint job. They expect the remodel will cost millions and last years. The landmark Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite National Park is due for its first major remodel and seismic upgrade since the stately Art Deco lodge opened 82 years ago.The top-to-bottom overhaul likely will include engineering work to ensure the hotel meets modern safety standards and building codes and is accessible to people with disabilities.
