Bennett Peak Campground is located on the banks of the North Platte River and is enjoyed by hunters and anglers, who find trout in the water, and abundant big game in the nearby Snowy Range. The campground is typically open from June 1-November 15, but these dates are variable depending on the weather.

  • Boating

    There are numerous public access points along the North Platte River. Bureau of Land Management put-ins include the Bennett Peak and Dugway Recreation Sites. Wyoming Game and Fish put-ins include Treasure Island, Foote, Pick Bridge, Eagle's Nest, and I-80. Camping is permitted at many of these put-ins. Regardless of what craft you use to float the river, be prepared for windy and inclement weather. Use "Leave No Trace" ethics and camp in developed sites when they are available. And please remember to wear your life jacket.

  • Camping

    The campground features eleven campsites, vault toilet, hand pump well, boat ramp, day use parking, and bank fishing accessible to persons with disabilities. There is a fee to camp, but no day use or launch fee at present. Provided at each campsite are a picnic table, fire ring or grill, sandy tent pad, and a parking space. No pull-throughs and no horses allowed in campground.

  • Fishing

    From the Colorado border down to Sage Creek, the North Platte River is classified as a blue-ribbon trout fishery. This section of river is managed for "wild" trout. Rainbow and brown trout are the predominant game fish, with smaller populations of brook and cutthroat trout and walleye. A Wyoming fishing license is required to fish in Wyoming. Regulations are available from licensing agents.

Campground typically open June 1 - Nov 15 but these dates are quite variable.



From I-80, take Wyo 130 and Wyo 230 south approximately 38 miles to Riverside, then Wyo 230 east 4 miles. Turn left onto County Road 660 and go 12 miles on graveled road to Bennett Peak Road (BLM Road 3404) and follow it 7 miles to the campground.
