A Junior Park Ranger booklet is available at the Visitor Center so young people between the ages of 6 and 11 can learn more about the Memorial during their visit. Participants must correctly complete sections of this booklet to earn a free Junior Ranger badge and certificate.

Little Ranger Coloring Book

A coloring book is available at the Visitor Center information desk for our park visitors younger than 6-years old.

April 26th is Junior Ranger Day!

Located in an urban setting, Chamizal has designed a program that encourages families to go on a self-guided discovery of our Memorial's grounds, natural resources, and park's historical significance.

This program consists of children's activities (bag puppet making, and Ranger talks), followed by a puppet show in which the children, using the puppets they've made, interact with the show's puppets in a story that teaches children to appreciate the park and better understand why they should help take care of it. The show will also incorporate other park related themes such as friendship, peaceful problem solving, and living in a binational community.

After the show, children and their parents are encouraged to take a multi-page booklet and go on a self-guided discovery walk to various sections of the park. The multi-page booklet contains a scavenger hunt, puzzles, interesting plant trivia, and meaningful historical facts.

Although the program is focused on kids, it will involve the parents and other family members as they help their children search out the answers and explore the park.
