Overview

Contra Loma Dam and reservoir are part of the Central Valley Project - Delta Division and offers recreational opportunities for the East Bay area near San Francisco. Numerous hiking trails exist as part of the facility and the area provides excellent access to the Contra Costa Canal Regional Trail. The trail system provides for bikes, equestrian and pedestrian use and are available from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. The park also provides picnic and other day use facilities and adjacent to the Antioch Municipal Golf Course.

  • Boating

    Visitors to Contra Loma may launch their own boats. For boat launch information please contact the park.

    Enjoy these attractions along with year-round hiking, biking, and nature study at this Contra Costa County oasis.

  • Camping

    No reservation campgrounds.

  • Fishing

    The reservoir contains catfish, black and striped bass, bluegill, trout, and red-eared sunfish for fishing. A Daily Fishing Access Permit is required and can be purchased at the park entry kiosk.

  • Hiking

    From Contra Loma there are trail connections to Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve. Enjoy these attractions along with year-round hiking, biking, and nature study at this Contra Costa County oasis.

  • Horseback Riding

    Trails are available for horseback riding.

  • Picnicking

    Shady picnic areas on a green lawn are available.

  • RVing

  • Water Sports

    Swimming is permitted in the lagoon only, in the summer when lifeguards are on duty. There is a beach access fee.
