Bears waking up in Glacier National Park
It's a sure sign of Spring in Northwest Montana...bear tracks have been showing up in the snows of Glacier National Park, which means the animals are ready to shake off the winter slumber and start eating.
"Bear tracks in the snow are a good reminder that Glacier National Park is bear country and park visitors need to be alert for bear activity and to be familiar with and comply with safety regulations," noted Park Superintendent Chas Cartwright.
Park visitors are being advised to travel in groups and make loud noise, especially near streams and at blind spots and curves on trails in order to avoid any surprise encounters.Officials at the park also want folks to remember to keep food, garbage and other attractants stored in hard-sided vehicles or bear-proof food storage boxes.
