Hamburger Rock Campground
Overview
Hamburger Rock is the only developed campsite in the corridor and is located near the entrance of Canyonlands National Park. A private campground is located at the Needles Outpost, just outside the entrance to the park. Squaw Flat campground is located just inside the park and fills early during busy seasons.
This campground is recommended if Squaw Flat campground inside the Needles District is full.
Activities
Bicycling
Bicycling is available the paved road (Highway 211).
Camping
Developed camping with vault toilets is available. There are excellent views of red rock country and the campground is a convenient location to the entrance to the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park.
Climbing
Indian Creek affords many opportunities for rock climbing. New routes and bolting are allowed. Alteration of rock surfaces and removal of vegetation is prohibited.
Rock Climbing at Indian Creek. Many of these climbs can only be reached by crossing private land. Please use existing trails, respect private land signs and fences. Climbing on petroglyphs is unlawful and destructive.
Hiking
Numerous hiking trails are available in nearby Needles District of Canyonlands National Park.
Hunting
Hunting is permitted. Contact park for more information rearding rules and regulations.
Off Highway Vehicles
Contact the field office for information on OHV driving.
Picnicking
Picnicking is encouraged, and picnic facilities provided.
Seasonality/Weather
Extreme heat is common in the summer time. Freezing temperatures are common in wintertime. Flash floods occur occasionally in the spring.
Directions
Driving
Follow US 191 south of Moab to the Needles section of Canyonlands National Park entrance road (UT 211). Go west approximately 20 miles to Lockhart Road, to the north. The camping area is just up the road on a dirt road on the right.
