Secluded coves, canyons, and sandy beaches wait to welcome you at Conchas Lake State Park. Ample camping and picnicking facilities, bait and tackle supplies, water sport activities, food services, and playgrounds allow for a variety of recreation opportunities that the whole family can enjoy. Not only that, but ancient rock formations date back to the Age of Dinosaurs, allowing observant visitors to discover the fossils of ancient sea creatures.

  • Boating

    Boating is one of the most popular sports at Conchas Lake. Boats here range from canoes to sailboats to large cabin cruisers and house-boats.

  • Camping

    Camping opportunities range from primitive sites to developed sites with hookups.

  • Fishing

    The lake is regularly stocked by the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish. The best times to catch walleye and crappie are spring and fall. Anglers can catch channel catfish, bluegill, large-mouth bass, bullhead, and sunfish year-round.

  • Golfing

    Golfing is available at the non-profit Conchas Golf Course.

  • Hiking

    Hiking is available within the park.

  • Picnicking

    There are picnic tables and shelters at Conchas Lake.

  • RVing

    Developed RV sites are available with sewage, electrical, and water hook-ups.

  • Water Sports

    Water-skiing and the use of personal water-craft are popular in summer, and because the wind blows at 15-miles per hour, more than half the time, the lake is being discovered by windsurfers. Although there are no designated swimming beaches, snorkeling, swimming, and scuba diving in the clear water are permitted in most areas.


The average summer temperatures range from lows in the mid 60s to highs in the low 90s. Winter temperatures average lows in the mid 20s to highs in the mid 50s.
