Overview

Normandy Reservoir attracts bass anglers, campers, and boaters from a wide area. Barton Springs Recreation Area on the south shore of the reservoir is particularly popular. The Duck River watershed is one of the most biologically diverse river systems in the nation. Over 500 species of fish, insects, and other aquatic life inhabit the ecosystem, including two endangered species of mussels, the Cumberland monkeyface and the birdwing pearly.

  • Boating

    Scenic Normandy Lake is a great place to spend the day on the water. Several public boat ramps are in the area.

    The Barton Springs Campground, on the southern side of the lake, has 67 campsites, many with water and electric hook-ups. Campers will appreciate the heated showers, flush toilets, picnic tables, and swimming beach.

    Normandy Lake is a vibrant natural area, with great bass fishing.

  • Historic Sites

    Construction of Normandy Dam was completed in 1976. The dam is 110 feet high and stretches 2,807 feet across the Duck River.

  • Hunting

    The forested lands around the lake offer great hunting opportunities. Be sure to check with local authorities for regulations.

  • Picnicking

    A reservable pavilion is located on the south side of the lake, with a large table that seats 50 people. A charcoal grill is provided, and accessible restrooms are nearby, as is the beach.

  • RVing

Driving

From Nashville, go west on I-24 and take exit 97. Take Highway 64 to Wartrace, then south on Highway 269.

Flying

The closest major airport is in Nashville. A variety of car rental agencies is available.
