Overview

Washington Lake, off Little Britain Road in New Windsor, forms part of the City of Newburgh's reservoir system. Fishing and recreational programs are administered by the Recreation Department Fishing is allowed in Washington Lake from 6:00am to 6:00 pm. The lake contains trout, pickerel, and several varieties of pan fish. To use the lake, one must rent a boat. The Frank Masterson Memorial Recreation Area is on Lockwood Basin, the outlet of Washington Lake on Little Britain Road. The recreation area was created for senior citizens, handicapped persons, and military veterans. It contains a handicapped accessible fishing area and pavilion, with seating areas along the shore. Fishing is allowed from the shore only. To use the facility, register with the Recreation Department at the Multi-Purpose Activity Center, 401 Washington Street.
