Overview

Built during the Great Depression, South Carolina's Barnwell State Park is known as one of 16 state parks in the state built by the Civilian Conservation Corps to provide jobs for the men who built them. Now, the State Park provides recreational opportunities for guests from afar and for the locals. Not only does the Barnwell State Park offer a community center for those who want to hold meetings and family reunions, but it also offers camping and cabins, picnicking and playgrounds. Visitors can also enjoy a winding nature trail that goes around two decently sized ponds. These ponds boast an abundance of fish species from bream to bass, and if you are lucky you may stumble upon a surprisingly large catch! Campfire programs are also available at some times during the summer in this 307-acre getaway. Whether you want to enjoy the water or just bask in the sun, this is the place for you!
