Cheraw State Park is a haven for all kinds of outdoor enthusiasts. This is a place where the beauty of nature and the game of golf combine for a great experience. The Park boasts an 18-hole championship course that winds through the gorgeous pinelands of the state park. The Audubon society has applauded this gold course for the way in which it is sustainably managed to protect the surrounding habitat. Countless animal species make this place their home, including red-cockaded woodpeckers and fox squirrels. The park in Located in South Carolina, the Park also includes Lake Juniper, a 300-acre body of water that was built during the Great Depression by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Sprawled along the park's land are also quaint cabins and picnic facilities. This area has it all- from a boardwalk for visitors to enjoy gorgeous scenery to kayaking. Whether you want to take a scenic walk or make a hole-in-one, this is the place for you!

  • Boating

    A boat ramp gives guests access to Lake Juniper (private boats must have no more than a 10 horsepower engine). Paddling is also allowed.

  • Bicycling

    9 mile bike trail.

  • Fishing

    The park's 360-acre Lake Juniper holds bass, bream and catfish. Remember, valid South Carolina fishing licenses are required.

  • Golfing

    The Park has an 18-hole championship golf course, clubhouse, practice green, driving range, pro shop and a snack grill.

  • Hiking

    Hiking trails include the Turkey Oak Trail, a loop trail that is 4.5-miles in length and includes an option for a short 1.9 mile loop. Along Lake Juniper is a half-mile boardwalk trail that crosses the dam spillway.

  • Picnicking

    The Park has 2 picnic shelters for group gatherings. If the shelter is not reserved, guests may use it on a first-come, first-served basis at no charge.


Office Hours run from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. year-round. Days and Hours of Operation run from Nov. - Feb. 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Mar. 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Apr. - Oct. 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.



From Cheraw:Take Hwy. 52 S. for approximately 4 miles, turn right at the park entrance.

From Charlotte:Take Hwy 74 east to Hwy 601 east. From Hwy 601, take Hwy 9 south to Cheraw. Take Hwy. 52 S. for approximately 4 miles, turn right at the park entrance.
